Samuel Tellinger

Samuel has always had a passion for the Word of God. He spent 17 years in Africa serving the Mbuti (the indigenous people) of Congo, until he realized his ultimate calling was to come back home and lead his father’s church toward sanctity and holiness. He has passed the mantle onto his son Matthew.

Matthew Tellinger

Matthew Tellinger was destined to be a preacher. His father and father’s father were both pastors at The Bride of Christ Church. Before becoming the head pastor, he worked with Franklin Graham at Samaritan’s Purse in their Children’s Ministries Outreach. He now lives to serve his congregation and guide them along God’s holy path.

Larry Simpson

Having recently completed The Bride of Christ Church’s patented conversion therapy, Larry has abandoned his sinful past and is now preaching the message of Christ once a month and helping lead our Young Boy’s Choir.

Our mission is to lead people to become fully devoted followers of Christ, no matter where He leads us. We are secure in the knowledge of God’s love and the sovereign reign of Christ.

  • Scripture
We believe the Bible to be the verbally inspired word of God, the final authority for faith and life. Additionally, we recognize certain non-canonical scriptures as long they comport with God’s message and further reveal our need for Jesus Christ. (2 Timothy 3:16, John 16:12-13)
  • God
We believe He has existed forever as a Holy Trinity consisting of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. He created the universe and is ruler over it. (2 Corinthians 13:14)
  • Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is God’s son and is our sovereign Lord and Savior. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ accomplished our redemption through His vicarious blood sacrifice on the cross; and that our justification is made sure by His literal, physical resurrection from the dead (which may be yet to come). As Christians we seek to live under His control daily. (John 1:14, 3:16, Romans 3:24, 1 Peter 2:24, Ephesians 1:7)
  • Holy Spirit
We believe that the Holy Spirit is a member of the Holy Trinity and a person who convicts the world of sin, of righteousness, and of judgment; and that He is the supernatural agent in regeneration, baptizing all believers into the body of Christ, indwelling them and sealing them unto the day of redemption. (John 16:8-11, Romans 8:9)
  • Salvation
We believe that salvation is the gift of God brought to man by grace and received by personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, whose precious blood was shed on the cross for the forgiveness of our sins; and whoever partakes in this blood covenant will be given eternal life and be raised up on the last day. Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept it. (Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-10, 1 Peter 1:18-19)
  • The Church
We believe that the church, which is the body and espoused bride of Christ, is a spiritual organism made up of all born-again persons of this present age. We believe that the establishment and continuance of local churches is clearly taught and defined in the New Testament scriptures. We believe in the autonomy of the local churches, that they are to be free of any external authority and control. The Church works together in love and unity, intent on the ultimate purpose of glorifying Christ. (Ephesians 5:25-27, 2 Corinthians 11:2)

The Bride of Christ is committed to living up to the standards and traditions that the apostle Paul put forth in the New Testament. Our three core values outlined below summarize the priorities that will always yield new life and blessing to people who purpose to live in and through them.

  • Truth & Meaning
In John 14:6 Jesus tells us, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” The only truth and meaning we have come directly from God and are inextricably bound in the life and death of His Son. Through Jesus, we gain access to revealed truth through His words and actions. His sacrifice on the cross provided not only salvation but also the deepest meaning we could ever attain. If we persist in our natural wickedness and ignore the truth we will fall into the trap that Paul described in 2 Thessalonians 2:10, “They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.”
The Bride of Christ is committed to hold Jesus Christ as the sole key to understanding truth and meaning. Unless they are united, truth will be empty and meaning blind.
  • Worship and Service
God made us exclusively for His glory (Isaiah 43:7). We find our purpose in worshiping and serving our Lord. Whatever we do, whether it’s feeding the homeless, clothing the needy, singing songs of praise, tithing, taking care of our families or even eating and drinking, we do so to the glory of God and his Son, Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 10:31).
Instead of compartmentalizing life, The Bride of Christ strives to integrate all of human experience into expressions of worship. One day we will have no choice but to worship God. We believe we should do so consciously here and now to find favor in His eyes. As Romans 14:10-11 tells us, “For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ; for it is written, ‘As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.’”
  • Authentic Community
A thriving, healthy community that yearns for Christ is the beating heart of our church. We welcome all into our church so long as they are willing to leave behind their sinful past and accept Christ’s loving sacrifice. We know that through this sacrifice we become new and fully capable of living the life God wants of us. Just as Christ’s blood transforms us all as individuals, His blood also transforms the way we view and treat one another.
We constantly admonish one another to read God’s word daily and put it into practice that we may avoid unrighteousness. In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 Paul explains that the unrighteous will not enter God’s Kingdom and tells us who will not make it, “…fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor homosexuals, nor sodomites, nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God.”
The Bride of Christ implements a traditional church hierarchy just as Paul advised in the New Testament. He clearly states that men are to be the leaders of the church community. In 1 Corinthians 14:34, he tells us, “Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says.” And in Ephesians 5:22-24 he says, “For the husband is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the church, the body of which he is the Savior. Just as the church is subject to Christ, so also wives ought to be, in everything, to their husbands.”
We keep these portions of Scripture in mind as we follow Jesus and attempt to live up to His commands.

The Bride of Christ was founded in 1909 by Henry Tellinger. Over 100 years ago, Pastor Tellinger saw that the decadent nature of many Christian churches was on the rise and many of them were falling away from the traditional values that the apostle Paul laid out so clearly in the New Testament. As a result, he believed it necessary to build a church that reflected these values and that acted as the espoused Bride of Christ that it is supposed to be.
Today, we carry this tradition forward and believe that wavering from it sets a dangerous precedent as can be seen by the acceptance of homosexual marriage, abortions and the feminists who have already done so much to destroy the traditional familial structure.
We believe it is so important to stay true to the Gospel and be steadfast in our faith and discipline, for as we learn in the Parable of the Ten Virgins, Jesus is like a bridegroom that will one day come for us without warning. As Matthew 25:13 admonishes, “Watch therefore, for you don’t know the day nor the hour in which the Son of Man is coming.”

We believe it is essential to act as if Christ’s return could happen at any moment because, according to Scripture, it can and will. In Matthew 24:36 & 44 Jesus talks to His disciples about His return, “But about that day or hour no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father… Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.” However, according to a newly discovered papyrus fragment from the Gospel of Thomas, we may be able to facilitate His return soon.
However and whenever Christ returns, we do know that He will rain His righteous judgement down on all of those who have turned their backs on Him, and, “the heavens will pass away with a roar, and the heavenly bodies will be burned up and dissolved, and the earth and the works that are done on it will be exposed.” (2 Peter 3:10) Paul tells us in 2 Thessalonians 1:8-9 that upon Christ’s return, “He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His might.”
So take heed and be ready!
